About Us

The Global Impact Film Festival (GIDC), founded by Emily Aguilar, presented by DCBX, today announces the official dates for their third annual celebration.

This socially- minded film festival will occur August 25 to August 27, 2017 at the Renaissance Marriott in our Nation’s Capital, moments away from infamous monuments and museums; a perfect place for creating a social impact of one’s own.

For their third year, they continue their mission to empower lives by celebrating the power of media for social change. GIDC focuses on cultivating global outreach, celebrating culture, and supporting non-profit organizations through its official selection of filmmakers taking place in seven months.

Last year, some major topics in films both in the documentary and narrative category included agriculture, the environment on a global scale, homelessness, sexual abuse and refugees in different parts of the world, to name a few.

Previous speakers and talent have included the likes of Grease Cinematographer, Bill Butler; Mind and Media’s Aldo Bello and DC Stunts Coalition’s Dylan Hintz among others.

The festival will open submissions for short documentaries and narratives that are under 30 minutes on January 30th through Withoutabox and Film Freeway.

There are many opportunities arising for those who would like to become more engaged with the festival. Some opportunities include: creating new collaborations with individuals through workshops or events, volunteering and/ or partnering. For more information, contact us here

As GIDC begins the new year, they encourage all to mark their calendars AUG 25- 27th for an exciting and dynamic festival.
